Medium
Drawing - Pencil On Bristol
Description
The 23rd of October 1942 was the day before the battle of El Alamein that led to the defeat of Rommel and the Africa Korp in Tunisia. This Bedford Gun Portee is waiting for the orders to move out from its' position in Ruweisat Ridge to provide flank defense for the attack in the southern sector. The purpose of this attack was to keep as much of the Africa Korp as possible away from the main attack in the north. The gun faces forward for General made it clear that this battle did not have the option of failure and retreat.
A rare vehicle that only was used for a few months. After this use, the trucks were reconverted to their original cargo carry purpose.
